BWIT participated in The Asia Foundation event with Australian Embassy USA Fostering Private Sector Partnerships to Expand Economic Opportunities for Women, 20 July 2017 Washington DC

Women in Asia face significant barriers in accessing economic opportunities, as entrepreneurs and within the workforce. Constraints include limited access to markets, finance, networks, and information; discriminatory laws and regulations; an unfriendly work environment for women; and unpaid care responsibilities. The private sector is playing an increasingly important role addressing constraints to women’s economic opportunities, as a corporate social responsibility priority and because it makes smart business sense. The panel highlighted innovative public-private partnerships which are improving economic opportunities for women in Vietnam, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and across Asia, and in turn building stronger communities and markets
